Watches of Wales Proudly Sponsors The Scarlets

July 23, 2018

As you may or may not know, Watches of Wales supports different locally-based sporting teams in and around the city of Cardiff, where it’s based. Alongside the Cardiff Blues, Watches of Wales’ other main sponsorship is with the Scarlets, a Welsh rugby team and Pro12 championship member which has had quite the success story since the team’s inception in 2003. It’s not only the team as a whole that gets attention, but individual players often do as well, this time we are celebrating the success of players Will Boyde and Steff Evans.

The young and talented player Will Boyde was handed the award for the Most Promising Player, after the young 22 year old scored five tries over 24 appearances. Boyde has been a part of the team’s scrum nearer the back in the more recent games as a part of the Pro12 and is very excited for the future, he is part of a small group of younger players whom have all willingly put their faith and future in the success of rugby teams in this part of the country. Will was given his award at the End of Season Awards Dinner at Guinness’ Storehouse Dublin, something which is very prestigious and special to all the players that took part.

Scarlets winger Steff Evans also enjoyed success at the End of Season Awards Dinner after his spectacular performance in the season this year, prompting him to keep his promise to dedicate his time to the region by signing a new contract which will keep him based in West Wales for the time being, meaning the area hasn’t lost one of its best and brightest to a major team or a big league.

At the End of Season Awards Dinner where all team players, coaches and sponsors get together and celebrate the successes they’ve enjoyed over the past season, Steff Evans was handed the Heineken Fans Player of the Season and therefore won the public vote. Being chosen by the public to win an award means a lot, it shows that you are a true sportsman who strives to not only be a team player, but become a team ambassador of sorts to the people who watch the games, after all, what use are great skills if you can’t interact well with the people who have paid to see you play?

The Heineken Fans Player of the Season wasn’t the only award Mr. Evans picked up either, as the player with the most tries this season he also won the Top Try Scorer award, having scored 11 tries over the season. Even further still, Mr. Evans was also named the Players Player and selected to be a part of the Wales squad for the Summer tour which will take on the likes of Samoa and Tonga, as well as other teams too. The Players Player award is sponsored by City & Trust Finance as well as Watches of Wales. Watches of Wales was very pleased for Mr. Evans when he won the 'Players Player', and presented him with a timepiece to mark the special occasion in his career. As a sponsor of sports, Watches of Wales serves a lot of requests from team players both on local, regional and national scale and is proud to Sponsor the Players Player and the Scarlets as well.
